Surf Dog Ricochet And Quadriplegic Surfer Patrick Ivison Will Be Tandem Surfing At The Surf City Surf Dog Event This Sunday
Ricochet, (”Rip Curl Ricki,”) the 2nd place overall winner of the 2009 Helen Woodward Surf Dog Surf-a-thon, will be tandem surfing with Patrick Ivison, a 15 year old spinal cord injured adaptive surfer this Sunday, October 11th at 12:00 noon at the Surf City Surf Dog event
Patrick Ivison Teams Up With Surfing Dog Ricochet
Patrick Ivison, a 15 year old quadriplegic surfer who was featured in TransWorld SURF’s “Innerviews” issue (August, 2009), and Ricochet, the Surfin’ for Paws-abilities surfer dog, teamed up to complete the first ever tandem surfing ride between an adaptive surfer and a dog!
Patrick is one of the most inspiring figures in the surf world, and it’s no surprise that he’s doing new things and pushing his limits. He doesn’t let anything get in the way of the things that he wants to achieve and regularly speaks for the Life Rolls On Foundation, which was started by fellow surfer Jesse Billauer.
You can find this new pair catching waves in San Diego over the next few weeks, practicing for the upcoming Surf City Surf Dog contest in Huntington Beach on October 11th where they will be demonstrating their new skills. Ricochet is fundraising to offset the costs of Patrick’s physical therapy and new service dog, and will also be competing in the contest to generate donations.
